Our Book Has Been Published

During our family's cancer experience my daughter and I kept online journals intended to help family and friends stay current with all the procedures taking place throughout our daughter's treatment.

During that time many people remarked "You need to write a book." I would reply with a tepid "Yes, I should," and leave it at that.

Years later—TEN years later, in fact—a new friend who thought I should write a book about our experience suggested I read Mary Karr's "The Art of Memoir." In that book the author suggests that a memoirist not write about an event until ten years have passed. Since I was considering writing our story ten years after the end of my daughter's cancer treatment, this was additional confirmation that it was time for me to write about our "Cancer Year" and share it with others.

Punctuating our journal entries with additional memories as well as research supporting the integrative options we utilized during Laura's treatment, I'm pleased to announce the publication of our book, Walking on the Ceiling: Reflections on Life Turned Upside-Down by Pediatric Cancer.

Ten years ago, just after Laura had completed her treatment and was pursuing physical and occupational therapy, I would never have imagined I would collaborate on a book with her. This project was a labor of love for us both; we hope it provides inspiration and encouragement for those who read it.

Wishing you well, Susan
